 This itinerary is for the ascent of Pt. Lenana, the third peak of Mt Kenya, at an altitude of 4985 meters. This is not a technical climb, but a hike. Anyone with a reasonable level of fitness should be more than capable of completing the trek provided they approach it in a sensible manner. The ascent is via the Chogoria Route, on the little-used east side of the mountain.

Pick up from the hotel at about 0800. It's then about 3 1/2 hours from Nairobi to where we collect the porters and guides (as required). Into the Mt. Kenya forest for the 22 km drives to the Park Gate at 2,850m. Dependent on road conditions, these 22 km have been known to take all afternoon to do and in really wet conditions it is possible that the top four or five km may be impassable. Night, dependent on clients wishes, at the Meru Mt. Kenya Banda's or at road head a further 7 km from the Park Gate.

Day 2 YHA-Kenya Travel Adventure Trekking Mount Kenya Tour.

After breakfast and sorting of porter loads, we set off up the mountain at a nice and easy pace. A slightly longer walk via Lake Ellis gives scenic views of Mugi, Ithunguni, and the Giants Billiards Table, whilst if we follow the river near road head, upstream for about 3 km, the foreground scenery and flora is particularly beautiful. Lunch by the stream banks then it's time to cut up the left-hand hillside to our camp at about 3,600m, well away from any of the more "touristy" areas.

Day 3: YHA-Kenya Travel Adventure Trekking Mount Kenya Tour.

Lake Michaelson From our campsite, we continue to move up through the moorland zone. As this area of the mountain is still off the beaten track, there are no paths to follow, and on each trip, we vary the area we walk across. After about an hour, traverse left and join a ridge (slight path to follow) and join the normal Chogoria route to Minto's Hut after about 4-hour walking. Lunch at a small stream crossing then 45 min on to a camp near Minto's Hut and next to one of the trans. A very short afternoon walk over to superb views across to "The Temple" and down to Lake Michaelson.

Epic Small Group Adventure 5 Days 4 Nights Lake Nakuru / Lake Naivasha  & Masai Mara Budget  Adventure Camping Safari.

Day 1: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park.

Pick up at your Nairobi city hotel or Home by our safari driver guide who will drive northwest to Lake Nakuru. There will be a short stopover at a viewing point to have a look at the Great Rift Valley from an elevated position. Your journey will continue to Lake Nakuru, arriving in time for a pre-lunch game drive.  Lake Nakuru National Park is home to Giraffes, Waterbucks, Black and White Rhinos, Buffalo, Lions, and Leopards, among other wildlife. On the shores of the lake, there are thousands of Flamingos who feed on the algae.  There will be an afternoon game drive around Lake Nakuru and the forest nearby.  Accommodation Milele Guest house Nakuru.

Day 2: Hell’s Gate & Lake Naivasha.

 Arrive at the gate of Hell's Gate around mid-morning, start biking tour for 2 hours within hell's gate, some people will opt to drive which is also allowed.  Animals are seen here include Bushbucks, Dikdiks, Giraffes, Gazelles, Gnus, Hartebeests, Impalas, Klipspringers, Buffaloes, Hyraxes, Zebras, Hyenas, Jackals, Mongooses, Baboons, Monkeys and Porcupines amongst others.  The park has historically been an important home for the rare lammergeyer vultures. From 11 am, visit the gorges for 1 hour, capture beautiful panoramas of the gorge's small thin depressions of landmass where you can walk underneath.  Around 12 pm return the bike at the gate, on the way visit the Maasai community. Leave Nairobi at 08.00 am for Masai Mara Game Reserve. Day 3:  Balloon  Safari Exploring in Masai Mara National Reserve Kenya.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park to Lake Naivasha.

After breakfast, we depart to Lake Naivasha you will begin a short drive to Hells Gate National Park. Lake Naivasha is about 13 kilometers across but has shallow water. It is a bird watcher's paradise and its waters are home to the iconic hippo. You may also be able to see giraffes and antelopes. Hells Gate National Park is unique because it is one of the only national parks that you can walk, bike, rock climb, or just simply drive. The park's unusual name comes from its rock formations as well as intense geothermal activity. You can explore obsidian caves or go to the Ol Njorowa Gorge. There is also a spa in the park which consists of man-made pools that are fed by natural hot springs.

Day 6: Naivasha Drive Via Nairobi To Amboseli National Park.

Day 1: Mombasa – Tsavo East

Pick up from Mombasa hotel or Airport in the morning, drive to Tsavo East national park which is less than 5 Hrs drive. Tsavo East national park renowned for its large numbers of elephants and the famous man eating lions. you will arrive with Game en route Via VOI WILDLIFE SAFARI LODGE. Check in and have lunch at you're lodge. Later in the afternoon more game drive, The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk later dinner and overnight at

Day 2 : Tsavo East – Taita Hills Sanctuary

Early morning game drive later you break for breakfast, After breakfast game en-route Leave Tsavo East for Taita Hills Sanctuary which is less than 3 Hrs drive and sufficiently isolated to develop endemic forms and birders which come from afar to see teh Taita Hills Olive Thrush and teh Taita White-eye. You arrive time for lunch check inn at Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge. After lunch transfers to Sarova salt lick game lodge is a luxurious safari escape set in teh heart of teh Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary overlooking a waterhole and teh vast Tsavo plains. Afternoon game drive until late in teh evening dinner and overnight at
 SALT LICK GAME LODGE.

Day 3: Taita Hills Sanctuary – Tsavo West

Early morning game drive return to you're lodge for breakfast, After breakfast leave Taita Hills for Tsavo West which is less than 4 Hrs drive. Continue with Game en route to NGULIA SAFARI LODGE no doubt has one of teh most breathtaking views in Kenya, built in an open-air style, TEMPhas a view of floodlit water holes and Leopard sometimes can be spotted. Check in and has lunch. In teh afternoon, more game drive. Later dinner and overnight at the
NGULIA SAFARI LODGE  OR CAMP.

Day 4:  Tsavo West – Amboseli

Early breakfast, tan proceed for a morning game drive with a visit of Mzima Springs where you can see hippos and fish in a crystalline clear water. their are possibilities of seeing crocodiles and monkeys. Later proceed to Amboseli National park which is less than 3 Hrs drive arriving in time for lunch and check in at OlTukai Lodge. Afternoon game drive within teh Amboseli park which lies at teh floors of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kilimanjaro offers scenic backgrounds for photography. Elephants, Lions, Cheetah, Buffalo can be seen at teh swamp area. Later dinner and overnight at
KIMANA CAMP.

Day 5:  Amboseli – Nairobi

Early morning game drive later return to your lodge for Breakfast. After breakfast check out with a short game drive en-route off Amboseli and drive to Nairobi. you will arrive Nairobi in time for lunch. Lunch at Carnivore afterwards drop off at your respective hotel or Airport

Trip Detailed Itinerary

Day 01:  NAIROBI – LAKE NAIVASHA.

Main Destination:HELL’S GATE NATIONAL PARK.
Hell’s Gate National park is situated in the Lake Naivasha area. The park is characterized by diverse topography and amazing geological scenery. The sceneries include teh Fischer’s tower and the central tower columns and the hells gate gorge. Despite its alarming name, Hell’s gate happens to be one of Kenya’s most panoramic parks. It’s also one of the only two parks that one can walk, cycles, rock climb, and camp within the park.
Enjoy a 4 hours game drive, Nature walk, or bicycle cycling to cover the 11 Kilometers of the Hells gate. If time permits experience the gorge-guided nature walk. Then later return to the main gate, and exit for a hot lunch at a restaurant.
Hell's Gate National Park: Time spent - 4 hours
Main Destination:CRESCENT ISLAND.
Afternoon drive to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride to Crescent Island. Enjoy a guided nature walk in search of teh abundant birds that inhabit this crescent island. The ird species include the Pelicans, Cormorants, Fish eagle among other birds. You will also enjoy the wild animals that such as wildebeest, Waterbuck, Zebras, Gazelles…  Later board the boat and cross back to the lakeshore. Day 02:  MOUNT LONGONOT – MENENGAI CRATER NAKURU .
Main Destination: Mount Longonot/Nakuru
Leave the camp / Lodge or Hotel proceeding to Mount Longonot gate. Registration and get the guide who will take you up, around and down the crater. Mount Longonot is just less than 9100 feet above sea level with tree-filled interior. The lonesome steam vent to the northeast. A climb up Mount Longonot is an ideal half day trip. Best time to visit or travel is the months of January to April and September to December.
HIKING
The mountain can be navigated in two ways.  A straight ascend to the top and back down or reaching the top and circumnavigating the crater rim. The crater has a circumference of 7.2Km the walking trail runs from the park entrance up to the crater rim. Then continues in a loop encircling the crater. The hiking is about 8–9 km long but very steep, which takes around 3 to 4 hrs. Later leave Mount Longonot and drive  to Nakuru where 2 days Naivasha gateway will end Arrive at  
Ol Muteita Lodge Nakuru – Nairobi Road/ Sentrim Lodge Elementaita.

Day 03: Exploring Menegai Crater In Nakuru
Main Destination: Menegai Crater
Immerse yourself in the wonders of Nakuru today. Start your morning with a visit to Menengai Crater, one of the largest volcanic calderas in the world. Embark on a hike to the rim of the crater and marvel at the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Afterwards, head to Hyrax Hill Prehistoric Site, an archaeological site that offers a glimpse into the region's history. Explore the museum and learn about the early inhabitants of the area. In the afternoon.

Day 04:  Nakuru - Nanyuki-Ol Pejeta Conservancy Excursion.
Main Destination: Nanyuki Ol Pajeta
Ol Pejeta is a private wildlife conservancy situated on the equator and stretches across a 90,000-acre land in Laikipia County between the foothills of the Aberdares and the majestic snow-capped Mt. Kenya. The conservancy boasts of an astounding variety of animals, including: the Big Five (teh endangered black and white rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion), Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, cheetah, chimpanzee and many more.
Depart Nakuru early morning by 07:00am and drive North towards Nyahururu on to Nanyuki to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Once at the conservancy, we have a game drive enroute to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary that is home to chimpanzees orphaned and abused chimpanzees from rescued from traumatic situations.
From the chimpanzee sanctuary we will then proceed on to the Hippo Hide, probably catch a glimpse of a few birdlife and hippos,theirafter we’ll proceed onto the information Centre and get to hear more about Baraka’s and Morani’s Stories.
The combination of amazing wildlife, over 300 birds species and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable experience.
We drop you back to your hotel for overnight.

Day  05: Explore Adventure Mau Mau Caves, Mt Kenya Hike.
Main Destination: Mau Mau Caves Mount Kenya Park
 The Mau Mau Caves offer a beautiful park setting for a day's picnic, providing an adventurous journey to the caves where visitors can immerse themselves in the historical culture and feel the struggles of Kenyans under British tyranny.
Mau Mau Caves, which served as hideouts for Kenya’s independence fighters during the struggle for independence in the 1950s. These natural caves, located on teh slopes of Mount Kenya, offer insights into Kenya’s colonial history and the bravery of the Mau Mau freedom fighters.Mau-Mau stands for “Mzungu Arudi Ulaya, Mwafirika Apate Uhuru” in Swahili, in English it says more or less ”Let the white man go back to Europe and the Africans regain Independence!”
The caves became a holy sacred place. The caves are located deep down in this oasis of trees surrounded by rocks.

Day 06:   Nanyuki - Old Moses camp ( 3,300m) 3-4 hrs, 9km, 680m ascent.
Main Destination:Old Moses Camp
After breakfast pick up fro your hotel head to the Sirimon Park gate(2660m). From the gate, we trek up through the magnificent montane forest, bamboo, and giant heather zone before reaching the high altitude moorland and our first hut (Old Moses camp) for dinner and overnight. This is a gentle trek that takes 3 - 4 hrs gaining an elevation of 680m.

Day 07:  Old Moses - Shipton camp (4,236m). 7 hrs, 14km,900m ascent
Main Destination: Shipton Camp
Up the spectacular Mackinder Valley past strange giant groundsel and lobelia plants to emerge onto what looks like a set from Star Trek - Shipton’s Camp at 4,236m. This is a surreal setting below the towering peaks and glaciers, with its resident populations of bizarre rock hyrax and beautiful sunbirds.

Day 08:  Full Day acclimatization.
Main Destination: Shipton Summit
For better acclimatization, you can take a rest day at the Shipton camp. Short walks/day hikes are possible on the summit climb to Oblong and Hausberg tarns gaining an elevation of 370m before returning to the camp for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure.
N.B: Climbing high and sleeping low is excellent for acclimatization - but you can do that almost as well toughing in the sun watching the eagles!

Day 09:  Shipton Camp - Mackinders Camp (4,300m) 4 hrs, 7km, 300m ascent
Main Destination:Mackinders Camp
From Shipton's camp, the trail leads to Kami camp below the north face of Batian. Continuing west – southwest the trails climbs up switchbacks in teh fine snow before reaching Hausberg Col at 4590m. We will descend into teh upper Hausberg valley and rest at teh oblong and Hausberg tarns. Ascending to the crest of a ridge non as Arthur's seat we see the trail winding along with a beautiful series of rock ledges. We will descend to Mackinder's camp for the night.

Day 10:  Mackinders Camp - Point Lenana (4,985m) - Bandas. 11-12 hrs, 685m ascent, 2,080m descent.
Main Destination:Point Lenana
An early 2.30 is starting for an attempt to reach point Lenana in time for sunrise.
The climb takes 4 hrs and to add to the exhilaration, Kilimanjaro is also visible from the horizon. Descend to Mintos hut for full breakfast. After a short rest descend further to Mt Kenya bandas through the gorges valley for dinner & overnight.
You can enjoy log fires, hot showers, and bed at teh Bandas!

Day 11: Meru Bandas - Chogoria town - Nairobi. 2 hrs, 10km walk.
Main Destination:Chogoria/Nairobi
After breakfast, descend on a broad track through bamboo and virgin rain forest to meet the vehicle for the return to Nairobi - usually arriving mid to late afternoon.
